What to Expect from our students

At Greater United Preschool, our program is thoughtfully designed to support every stage of your child’s development—including the exciting and sometimes challenging toddler years. For children around 2.5 years old, parents can expect big leaps in language, independence, and emotional growth. At this age, children begin to form simple sentences, expand their vocabulary, and start asking questions as their curiosity blossoms. Our teachers encourage language development through conversation, storytelling, songs, and daily reading, helping each child build strong communication skills in a warm and nurturing environment.

Our Students

Emotionally, toddlers are beginning to express themselves more clearly, but they still need support managing big feelings. Our educators gently guide children through these moments, helping them identify emotions, practice social skills, and develop confidence. Parents can expect to see their child become more independent as they start helping with simple tasks like putting away toys or feeding themselves. We foster this growing sense of responsibility through daily routines that promote autonomy and self-care.
Potty training is another major milestone around this age. While every child is different, our team partners closely with families to support potty training efforts, both at home and in the classroom. We look for signs of readiness and offer a patient, encouraging approach that builds trust and success at each child’s pace.
